Kajio's News

Progress on my upcoming video game is going steady! While I'm still distracted by college, work, and friend's a lot of the time, I'm happy with the speed I'm getting things done, those things considered.

For those curious, here's a list of everything I've completed and what still needs to be done.
Completed:
-Level design (I've drawn out detailed maps of each level)
-Enemy design
-Boss design
-Player sprites
-Platforming engine
-Handful of obstacles
-Most enemy sprites
-Some H-animations
-About half of the enemy AI's

To do:
-Few enemy sprites (~3 days)
-Rest of the H-animations (~1 week)
-Program other half of the AI's (~1 week)
-Draw/program a few more obstacles (~1 week)
-Draw level tilesets (~1 week)
-Add sound effects (Dunno how long this'll take)
-Draw/program boss fights (~1 week)
-Program/balance leveling system (Depends how easily I can balance everything)
-Actually build levels (Time consuming, but not hard... Maybe 2 weeks?)
-Menu/save system (~1 day)
-H-gallery images (~10 days)

More exciting news! If this game is commercially successful then i plan to move out of my parent's place and into an apartment with a friend and start working full-time as a bum/video game developer. I don't think I'm setting too crazy of a goal for this game, so hopefully I get as many sales as I'm hoping for.

I plan to start releasing more actual stuff from the game as development continues (and things start to look prettier), but here's a little something for y'all to gander at. It's a sprite for the Giant Spider enemy, which I think looks especially kickass when it moves around :P

Nagai Yamiji Progress

So I've been getting a lot of PMs from people asking me when certain things are going to be done, where I've gone, or if I plan on making any more flashes.

Long story short, I'm not planning on releasing any new flashes for the foreseeable future.

Simply put, animating hasn't been a career fit for me. I haven't found any viable means to monetize my work that keeps me happy and motivated. I tried in-flash advertisements, which over the entire course of that I only made about $130, hardly a rent payment. I tried a couple times to start-up a pay site, but lacking the ability to do it myself and with every partnership falling though that never took off. Lastly I tried commissions, which (whenever I could get one) where relatively profitable, but making things for other people rather than for myself just completely tanked my motivation. All together I've made around $1200 with everything I've done, which, while nice and certainly appreciated, doesn't pay the bills.

So a combination of my lack of ability and lack of motivation has led me to move on to other fields. I appreciate everyone's support over the years! Boy howdy, how many men have told me that they have jerked off to one of my animations, I've lost count! It's something that I enjoy hearing in a creepy semi-prideful, semi-homosexual way... Moving on!

So some might wondering, then, what is it that I plan on doing next? Well simply stopping making digital renditions of naughty things happening is obviously right out! I'm returning to my old mistress, video game production.

About two months ago a friend showed me a game called Kurovadis, an awesome H-game made by Kyrieru (http://www.kyrieru.com/). Kurovadis sold enough copies to support him financially so he's now a full-time independent developer. Holy shit if that's not my dream right there. The developer is a pretty cool guy, and I talked to him about how he marketed his game and such, as I wanted to emulate his success.

So now I'm working my ass off on Nagai Yamiji, my own Ryona-themed H-game. I hope to complete it in the next couple months, and start selling copies for $6. While it's still in the beginning stages of development, it should have several hours of gameplay when complete! At that price, if I sell about 3000 copies in a year then I'll consider myself successful enough to start making more games (and maybe the occasional flash again) full time!

Anyway I'll release further details about the game throughout it's development. And I'll answer any questions y'all might have in the comments. Thanks for everyone's support!
